Detailed Itinerary for 10 Days Explore Uganda Wildlife and Gorillas Safari

Day 1; Arrival & Hotel Transfer.

On arrival, you will be met by our company representative at Entebbe airport and transfer to your hotel in Kampala. Depending on your arrival time, either go for a city tour and explore the national museum, Bahai Temple, local markets and craft villages and later return to your lodge OR, Relax at your hotel for the day. Dinner and overnight.

Day 2; Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park. (5 Hours)

You will enjoy an early breakfast and start on the long drive to Murchison Falls National Park with a stopover at Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for rhino tracking and lunch in Masindi town. Proceed to Murchison falls arriving in the afternoon.

This is the largest park in Uganda, covering almost 4000 km2, and is one of the most spectacular parks in all of Africa. There are the incredible falls from which the park takes its name, rugged savannah, dense woodland and spectacular wildlife. Drive to the Top of the falls where you will have an up-close view of the world’s most powerful waterfalls, ‘Murchison Falls.’ Check in to your hotel, relax, have dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3: Morning Game Drive and Afternoon Boat Cruise

A full day of game viewing at Murchison; begin with a morning game drive, on the lookout for elephant, buffalo, giraffe, antelope, lion, leopard and jackal. If luck is really on our side, we may encounter one of Murchison’s few cheetahs.

In the afternoon, you will take a boat trip to the base of the 43m high falls. This is also a good opportunity to spot a few of Murchison’s 460 bird species including the shoebill stork and goliath heron. You will also see one of Africa’s densest hippo and crocodile populations. Dinner and overnight as above.

Day 4: Transfer to Kibale National Park
You will have breakfast and then drive to Kibale. En-route, you will visit the Amabere ganyinamwiru stalagmites and waterfalls site in Fort Portal and the crater lakes. Have lunch and proceed to Kibale arriving late afternoon. Dinner and overnight stay

Day 5: Chimpanzee tracking – Kibale forest
Take early morning breakfast and go for briefing and start chimpanzee trekking. Kibale Forest National Park is one of the best safari destinations in Africa for chimpanzee tracking. Kibale’s 795km2 National Park contains one of the most beautiful and with the most varying tracts of tropical forest in the whole of Uganda. This is place to a number of forest wildlife, most especially 13 species of primate coupled with chimpanzees.

After trekking you will have lunch and then visit Bigodi wetland where you will experience a lot of bird life and unspoiled nature! Dinner and overnight stay.

Day 6: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park and Afternoon Boat Cruise

Enjoy breakfast and drive to Queen Elizabeth national park which is about a 4 hours’ drive. Arrive in the park in time for a go for lunch at your lodge and an afternoon game drive through Kasenyi area where you will encounter African elephants, herds of buffaloes, eland, bushbuck topis, and warthogs among others. Visit Katwe salt pans and witness salt mining in Uganda and return to your hotel for lunch.

In the afternoon, you will go for a boat cruise down the Kazinga Channel for some more incredible game viewing. You will see countless hippos, buffalos and a vast array of birds, perhaps including the African Fish Eagle and shoebill stork. Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight as above.

Day 7: Morning Game Drive/optional Lion tracking and Evening Game Drive

After breakfast, you will set off for an early morning breakfast and head out for a morning game drive in Kisenyi sector where you will have the chance to view a variety of wildlife including buffalos, topi, waterbucks, reedbucks, elephants, hyenas, kobs and lions if you are lucky. You also can do an optional lion tracking experience. You will be accompanied by a team of expert as you track a pride of lions in the park. The activity starts at 5am in the morning and takes approximately 4 hours or more depending on the location of the lions in the park. This activity will later be followed by a short game drive in Kasenyi area of the park. Expect lots of animals including; elephants, Lions, buffaloes, waterbucks, warthogs, Uganda kobs among others.

You will then visit Omwani Women’s Coffee Cooperative for a coffee plantation tour and learn about the different stages of coffee and return to your lodge for lunch.

Later in the evening, meet up with your guide and head out for an evening game drive in the park. The evening hours happen to be the best for a game drive as you get to search for animals while they return back to their dens for the night. Make sure to look out for any animals that you might have missed seeing during your previous game drives.

Later return back to your lodge for dinner and overnight

Day 8: Transfer to Bwindi National Park (4 Hours)
You will make a morning game drive of the Ishasha sector, in hope of seeing more lions and the elusive leopard. Then say goodbye to Queen Elizabeth and head down to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park arriving in the afternoon. Check in, unwind, dinner and overnight.

Day 9: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi

After an early morning breakfast, you will depart with your packed lunch and proceed to the park headquarters for briefing and take to the forest for gorilla trekking! Your child can spend that time at the hotel or in the company of guide as they visit around. Gorilla Trekking can take an hour or four depending on the movement of the gorillas.

The time remaining after visiting the gorillas can either be spent relaxing and remembering the trek or hiking in the foothills and visiting local communities. Dinner and overnight as above

 Day 10; Transfer to Kampala to connect for your flight

After an early cup of coffee, you will embark on your journey back to Kampala. You will have a brief stop at the equator for photography and experimentation and an en route lunch in Mbarara arriving in the evening for your scheduled flight back home.
