Day 1: Pick up from Kigali and Transfer to Goma

Pick up from Kigali and Transfer to Goma: On day one of your 4-day le petit Mikeno safari at a location of your choice in Kigali city or Kigali international airport, your guide for your safari will pick you up and take you through a briefing session of your safari for a memorable safari as you make your way to Goma. You will arrive at the grand barrier at 11:30 am for check-ins, purchasing of permits, and other activities. At 13:00 am, you will check in with the Virunga tourism office at the Grande Barrier, where you will get your gorilla trekking permits and mount Nyiragongo hike permit, which you will present at the park headquarters to participate in the activities in Virunga National Park. After check-ins, you will transfer to the park, and you will be transported to Mikeno lodge where you will have a late lunch, and in the afternoon, you will enjoy leisure at the Rumangabo nature trails where you will get to see several attractions like the numerous bird species, primate species like the chimpanzees, black and white colobus monkeys, among other primates.

Day 2: Gorilla trekking

Gorilla trekking: On day two of your 4 days le petit Mikeno Safari, after an early breakfast at Mikeno Lodge your guide will transfer you to Bukima tracking post, for briefing session to participate in gorilla trekking in Virunga national park where you will get to know the rules and regulations to follow during the activity, how to interact with the gorillas for a safe activity in the park. You will be assigned to a guide or ranger to take you through your activity in the park. During your activity, you will transfer to the tracking trails to get to the habituated gorilla family.

On your way to the habituated gorilla family, you will get to see several attractions like bird species for instance long-crested eagle handsome Francolin, Rwenzori Batis Dusky turtle love, paradise flycatcher, archer’s ground robin, African Rwenzori, double collared sunbird, marsh harrier, Ruwenzori turaco, different primates like the golden monkeys, chimpanzees, black and white colobus monkeys among other primate species for memorable 4 days lepetit Mikeno safari in Congo. When you get to the gorilla family, you will get to understand the behaviour of the primates in the wild for instance their feeding patterns, their grooming patterns among other interesting features you will also take pictures of the primates you will then transfer back to Mikeno Lodge for relaxation or you can visit the Senkwenkwe gorilla orphanage where you will get to take care of the orphaned gorillas for a day after the activity head back to your hotel for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Mount Nyiragongo hike

Mount Nyiragongo hike: On day three of your 4 days le petit Mikeno Safari, after an early morning breakfast at Mikeno lodge, you will be picked up from your hotel and transferred to the Kibati ranger post to participate in mount Nyiragongo hike. On arrival at Kibati, hikers will undergo a briefing session and participate in the hike to Mount Nyiragongo. When you get to the summit, you will have amazing views of the lava boiling underneath the earth’s crust as you take pictures. You will have an overnight at the summit for the ultimate safari experience.

Day 4: Descend Nyiragongo and transfer to Kigali city

Descend Nyiragongo and transfer to Kigali: On day four of your4 days le petit Mikeno Safari after an early morning breakfast, you will descend mount Nyiragongo, once at the bottom, you will be transported back to Goma and drop off at the Grande barrier for border crossing where you will be picked by your guide who will transfer you to Rwanda where you will be dropped off at a location of your choice in Kigali for lunch and transferred to Kigali international airport and the end of your 4 days le petit Mikeno safari.
