Activities in Virunga National Park After Mount Nyiragongo Eruption : Mount Nyiragongo eruption on 22nd May 2021 erupted and this  led to a number of activities in virunga national park to come to a standstill due to the  fact the lava is still a threat to the tourists  and there well being in some parts of the park for instance mount Nyiragongo which is too early to be visited.

At the island you can take part in bird watching this is because lake kivu is a home to a number of bird species which makes it  the one stop destination for  birders interested in seeing a number of bird species like; White-breasted Cormorants, Pied Kingfishers, Osprey, Double-tooth Barbet, Yellow-bellied Waxbill, Familiar Chat, Brown-throated Wattle-eye and Spot-flanked Barbet and a  number of bird species that can be seen during the bird watching experience. you will also get to see a number of migratory European species that visit the lake during winter season in their home countries.
